Are You Getting a New iPhone 6 or 6 Plus?
The new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were announced on Tuesday (Sept 9, 2014) and will be available on September 19 in the U.S. — at least while supplies last. I have a 4S I do plan on upgrading. I just haven’t decided between the 6 or 6 Plus.
But, what should you do with your old iPhone? Give it to your kids? Put it on a shelf somewhere in your office?
Another option you might consider is using Amazon Trade-In.
I have several old phones sitting on a shelf in my office. But, now just might be the perfect time for you to get some cash out of your old phones through Amazon’s Trade-In program. You can trade in an array of eligible electronics — all in one place, even in one box, along with the convenience of free shipping.
You can take advantage of the 45-day lock-in period (starting 9/9 going through 10/10) to lock in values on hot phones — Apple iPhone5s 64 GB AT&T: $400* or Apple iPhone 5 64 GB Verizon: $363.55* — while you wait to buy your new device. (Note: *Trade-in values are subject to change based on market rate so these are just guidelines.)
Some Interesting Trade-In Stats
On average, iPhone trade-in submissions spike up to four times with customers trading in an iPhone every two minutes in the first two weeks after a new product launch.
Every minute, Amazon Trade-In pays customers over $200 in Amazon Gift Cards for items they trade in.
More than 30,000 electronic items including Kindles, iPhones, MP3 players, calculators, and cameras are eligible for trade-in.
A trade-in submission happens every seven seconds on Amazon.com. For full details on the Amazon Trade-In program simply go here: http://bit.ly/amazon-tradein

I traded in my iphone 4 last year to VZW for the 5c, they gave me $100. The only thing I don’ t like about this is that it’s an Amazon GC. I’m hoping the carriers offer good trades this year…I want the 6!
Amazon.com is a great option. And, don’t forget about http://www.gazelle.com. You can get cash back if you want that instead of a gift card. Or, you can just walk into most Apple Stores and they’ll give you a credit for the purchase of your new iPhone. Nice and simple.
I’ll be upgrading, as well. Likely to the iPhone 6 Plus. My wife will likely get the iPhone 6. Here’s a nice little tool to help figure out which size to get. – http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/09/how-big-is-the-iphone-6-plus-find-out-with-our-handy-paper-template/
