Send a Text Using Email
Whether we like it or not, text messaging is a communication option that we need to offer to clients. You can get started by using this simple solution.
Each wireless carrier offers an email option that allows you to send a text message to a cell phone. The person receiving the message still has to pay for these messages but you won’t have to.
To send a message, simply enter the person’s phone number, along with the appropriate carrier-specific email address, into the TO: field in Outlook.
The text of your email will appear on the person’s phone as an SMS text message. To use this method, you need to know the individual’s cell phone service provider.
Below are the email addresses for some of the common carriers:
Alltel: [Phone Number]@message.alltel.com
AT&T: [Phone Number]@txt.att.net
Nextel: [Phone Number]@messaging.nextel.com
Sprint: [Phone Number]@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: [Phone Number]@tmomail.net
Verizon: [Phone Number]@vtext.com
Virgin Mobile: [Phone Number]@vmobl.com
Note: The format for all phone numbers is 10 digits with no dashes (e.g. 2125551212).
